Sustainability charter ShopWeDo – Part 2 of 3: Keeping e-commerce in Belgium

As an e-fulfilment player, we want to contribute as much as possible to making e-commerce sustainable.
Building out ShopWeDo as a socially responsible company, goes beyond the ecological aspect.
In
part one of our sustainability charter you could read how we participate in a better environment.
Through the use of solar energy and efficient packaging methods, we are significantly reducing our carbon footprint.
In addition to these green initiatives, we attach great importance to our local anchoring.
Both in Mechelen and Ostend, as well as throughout Belgium.
What exactly do we mean by this?
You’ll find out in part two of our sustainability charter.

Our mission

ShopWeDo was created in 2014 as a logistical spin-off from our webshop Babygoodies.
mission of ShopWeDo.

Making logistics easier for SMEs and assisting them in their e-commerce project is what we work on every day with our entire team.
Because we do this in a sustainable, socially responsible way, we help stop the logistics exodus to our neighboring countries and support our local economy and employment.

At the heart of Europe

As we pointed out earlier, e-fulfilment not necessarily cheaper in the Netherlands or Germany.

Mechelen and Ostend

From the start, we have always built our company structure and software in a location-independent way, which makes it possible to operate anywhere.
Every customer has specific needs, which is why we resolutely did not opt for one mega-warehouse.
The biggest advantage of this is that we can offer services tailored to the customer or region.
Today we have branches in Mechelen and
Ostend.

The headquarters in Mechelen is located on the main axis between Antwerp and Brussels. By anchoring in this logistics hotspot, we are not only right next to the E19, but also within a stone’s throw of all the major distribution centers such as those of Bpost, DPD, GLS and DHL.
These are located within a maximum radius of 20 kilometers around ShopWeDo.
PostNL’ s new sorting and distribution center in Willebroek, which will be built in 2021, is also nearby.
The strategic location makes it possible to work faster and later and also has ecological advantages.
Unnecessary transportation of packages is avoided, which reduces the number of kilometers and associated CO2 emissions.

Being close to our main suppliers allows us to be competitive and ecologically sustainable.
In addition, we try to assume our role within the local labor market by working as much as possible with people from the regions where our warehouses are located.
