Meet the team – Wannes

With the arrival of more automation in our warehouse, came Wannes.
As a maintenance technician, he is a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, but he can enjoy that variety.
Read the interview with our handy harry Wannes below.

How would you describe your job?

As a maintenance technician, I am responsible for everything related to machines.
For example, I take care of the daily maintenance of the JIVARO PRINT and the carton erector.
Are there problems with the machines?
Then I take care of the repairs.
Furthermore, I am a bit of a jack-of-all-trades.
A while ago I helped move the warehouse and I am currently building an exhibition stand.

How have you experienced the past few months?

Very positive!
My job is one with a lot of variety and freedom.
I started in September and haven’t been bored for a moment since.

What does a workday look like?

I usually start my day by emptying the containers for the cardboard. Then I start the daily maintenance of the JIVARO PRINT and the carton erector. This allows the late shift to work in a clean and functioning warehouse. In the afternoon, I keep myself busy with varied jobs. They range from solving problems to hanging signs, for example. Every day is different!

Did you do a similar job before this?

Not really!
Before this, I worked with electric motors and transformers.
I dealt with overhauls and repairs.
So I already had a lot of experience with motors, but not yet with the specific machines found at ShopWeDo.
Still, these machines are often similar on the inside, so it was an easy adjustment to do repairs here as well.

What makes your job fun?

The diversity of assignments.
As I said, I haven’t been bored for a moment since I started here.
I really like this variety between my regular assignments and the varying assignments.
No two days are ever the same.

Online shopping, is it for you?

Yes, more and more.
I used to only buy things for my hobby online.
This is because you have a much wider range here!
Since Corona I have to admit that I shop online a lot more.
Only clothes, shoes and food I still go to the physical store.
