Reducing error margins, that’s what we’re going for in 2018!

E-commerce is growing, our customers are growing and ShopWeDo is growing!
All very positive of course.
We are very proud that in one year we have more than doubled our shipping volume.
But we continue to look critically at our services.
No matter how crazy the year was, it is necessary to listen to our customers’ feedback and regularly scrutinize our processes and quality.
Only then can we continue to grow carefree and meet the quality demanded by you, our loyal customers.
In recent weeks, we have conducted a study in our fulfillment warehouse.
This revealed that there are still too many opportunities for errors in our current way of working.
Both when storing goods and when shipping packages.
Although this error rate is less than 1%, we still find it too high.
In order to reduce this margin to a minimum, we decided to implement two important changes during 2018.

1. Bar codes mandatory

All products entering our warehouse must be bar-coded.
Products that have already been provided with a barcode by the manufacturer are already in our system, so you do not have to do anything for them.
Products that do not have a barcode will receive an internal barcode from January 1.
Do you sell a product per item?
Then the item must have a barcode .
Do you sell a product per outer box?
Then this outer box must have a unique barcode . Handy fact: 81% of all products currently in our warehouse have already been barcoded by the manufacturer.

The price for labeling an item by us will be 0.09€/barcode.
Are you a manufacturer yourself and want to add official EAN barcodes to your products?
Then contact GS1(https://www.gs1belu.org).
EAN barcodes are mandatory for sales on marketplaces such as BOL.com and Amazon.

2. Picture, weight and dimensions of each product when inbound

Before the summer of 2018, all products will be photographed at the SKU level.
This photo will give you as a customer additional crucial info at the time of stocking, this way you can also effectively see which item we have stocked.
This photo is also a handy help for our warehouse workers.
Both during inbound and order picking.
Also, by means of a three-dimensional scanner, all “master data” (dimensions, volume and weight) will be stored in our software.
In the future, this will allow us to handle the volume of all items even more efficiently.
Specifically, we can reduce stocking costs for you and pick orders faster.
There will be no charge for these new operations.
We are convinced that these two changes will significantly improve the overall performance of our services.
After the introduction of these two changes, we will monitor the results on a monthly basis and will inform you if necessary.
